The process of an areola tattoo varies for each person. Although it is true that some patients feel fine without having the areola, others prefer to have it back. Therefore, this procedure must be approached in the best way, offering it with a humane and professional approach, understanding that all patients are different and that, in most cases, these patients, after having received chemotherapy and surgery treatments , they are more vulnerable and sensitive to pain. This is why this technique must be treated with the seriousness, ethics and professionalism it requires. It’s not just a tattoo; is to reconstruct not only physically an areola, but also to restore some confidence, security and self-esteem to our patients.

What is a 3D areola tattoo?
Although a tattoo cannot produce the projection necessary to be truly ‘three-dimensional’, a high-quality, detailed tattoo can simulate the appearance of a real nipple and areola. The three-dimensional nipple or areola tattoo is a work of art that resembles a real nipple. Shading and other artistic techniques make tattoos look like real nipples and help patients regain their confidence. The pigments used in areolar micropigmentation are carefully mixed to create the most realistic look possible for each patient.
Our students should strive to recreate a shade that resembles the patient’s original nipple and complements her natural skin tone. This is one of the reasons why it is important to have a tattoo artist perform the procedure: there is an art to making each nipple unique to each patient.
